"The Shah Abbas Gahambar" is a different custom among Zoroastrians of Kerman. This is a ceremony that is held every year so it would be a symbol of Zoroastrians' gratefulness for freedom from the oppression that could shatter Zoroastrians of Kerman. It is said that in the era of "Shah Abbas" a muslim was murdered in Kerman and a Zoroastrian was accused of the murder. Governor of Kerman who was really strict, referred the verdict to the religious ruling judge. Then, he announced that the claimant should put his arm in syrup up to wrist of elbow and then put it in a bag of millet. Then for the number of millet attached to his hand, Zoroastrians should be executed. Then he is told that there aren't that many Zoroastrians in Kerman so he says all Zoroastrians of Kerman should be executed. Then they gather all Zoroastrians in a place called "Babe Kamal" outside Kerman city. At the same time, "Shah Abbas" , in the capital of Iran, dreams that Kerman is burning in fire. He sends a messenger to Kerman to let him know about the situation and so he orders that only the murderer should be condemned not all the Zoroastrian people. After that day, "Shah Abbas Gahambar" is held, a Gahambar that is celebrated nit in "Babe Kamal" but in "Atashkade Dolatkhane" on Soroosh-Izad, in month of Dey and in Maydiayaram Chehreh. This year, also, Zoroastrians of Kerman gathered a few days before the ceremony and prepared the "Dunoo", rue, "Sirog", meat and vegetables needed for this celebration.
