Report and Photos on Inaugural Ceremony of the 9th World Zoroastrian Congress

Inaugural ceremony of the 9th world Zoroastrian Congress began at 10 a.m. in the main hall of Crown Plaza Hotel. Nearly 750 of Zoroastrians from all over the world attended the ceremony which held the slogan of ‘union throughout history'.




The program started by the announcer's welcome followed by the anthem of the congress  prepared to remind  unity.










Then with the presence of Parsi Mobeds who were accompanied by Mobed Dr. Ardeshir Khorshidian, the lights were turned on. The
Mobeds all recited parts of Avesta.The congress flag was unveiled by the great Mobed of Iranshah,Udvadeh Firetemple.  The Globe,Faravahr, sunrise and  slogan of Hoomat, Hookht and Hvaresht in two languages(Persian and English) were notable on the flag


Next was Ms. Meher Bhesania, the President of the congress. She started her message in Persian and welcomed the Iranian guests, and then she went on in English and remarked the reasons of selecting Dubai as the congress venue.


Then it was time to read the authorities' messages from different countries.




The first one who was invited to the podium was Esfandiar Ekhtiyari who read the messages of President Ahmadinejad and the
Parliament's Chairman  Ali Larijani.


Dinshaw Rusi Mehta the chairman of Mumbai Parsi Punchayt read the message of India's president, which emphasized the role of Parsis in the improvement of economy, technology and industry of India.


            The next speaker was Dadi Mistry the Chairman of Delhi Parsi Association who recited the message of Menmahan Sing,
 India's Prime Minister.


Zareen Commissariat was the other Parsi who read the message of Suniya Gandi.


After Indian Parsis it was Bomi Patel's turn ,FEZANA's Chairman, he considered Dubai as an appropriate city to hold the congress and pinpointed that ‘Zoroastrians of this city have proven their ability to hold the congress'.He read the message of Justin Silver, the US Consulate General in India.


Paurushasb Jila the representative of England Zoroastrian Association read the messages of Great Thomas the Head of British International Relations Office and Shahed Malek, the Chair of London Internal Affairs. In the message, Great Thomas treasured Zoroastrians   for England giving the example of Lord Bilimoria in the House of Lords and three other Zoroastrians in the House of Commons .


Next was honoring financial sponsors ranked as platinum, silver and bronze.

Darab Mistery from England introduced Lord Karan Bilmoria and invited him to have his speech.


Lord Karen Billimoria, the Chairman of Cobra Drinks, first appreciated Indian Parsis and pointed out that no society regarding its population could be as glorious as Indian Zoroastrian community have ever been.


The film ‘Trace in Sands of Time' was the continuation of programs. Migration of Zoroastrians from Iran to India was shown in the film and then Zoroastrians' diaspora from India to other countries was shown.


Then Sam Bulsara the Managing Director of ‘Madison World Company' presented an article entitled'Developing Main Goals for the World Zoroastrian Community'.


‘The Secret of DNA Code' was the title of the representative of Dr.Wilo Morvalighter's speech. She talked about the impacts of nutrition, population and health care on Zoroastrian Society.








Ballet dance was the other section of the inaugural ceremony:

First of all it depicted Zoroastrians living in Iran and went on showing the migration of Zoroastrians on ship. Being accepted in India, the initial difficulties for living, getting along with the society and endeavoring to construct India were staged elegantly. At last the migration to other countries was demonstrated followed by bringing to stage the relevant country's flags.
