Ervad Parvez Saheb was one of the welcomed guests who had come with his fellow Parsis for visiting the Yazd Agiyari alongwith the tour organized by Mr. Behram Pashutani who is the resident of India since 35 years and is the owner of  the Napilton Travel Agency. As Mr.Pashutani related :Ervad Parvez Saheb and   Mr. Noshir Dadarvala  being the member of the Parsi Punchayat (famous as Parsi Anjuman in India) and which has a more than 400 year service.

Many different questions after circulating in my mind got jotted down by me and I started  with my Interview. At first I asked the population of Parsis in India to which Mr.Noshir answered 70 thousand, my other question was about immigration to  which it was related that immigration is happening in numbers to U.S.A, Australia and Newzealand, my question continued for asking the ways for controlling immigration. The answer being "it's a personal matter" and no one can pursue this fact.

My next question being:the overall condition of the Indian parsis and their economic condition. The answer being :A few are not economically well off but mostly are in good economic conditions and that charity funds are being given to not more than 500 people.

The lack of talks between the Indian Zarthoshti Anjuman and the Iranian Zathoshti Anjumans was the question which brought to light another question as :why were there differences and quarrels  during the Anjuman elections of Bombay?

Mr. Noshir narrated that the Anjuman had been recently elected(six months ago) and that before only 1000 people had the right to participate in the Anjuman elections but now all the Bombay Parsis having the legal rightful age can participate in the elections.

It was at this time that Mr.Noshir had to leave us and I started my Interview with Ervad parvez Bajan.

Ervad Saheb which Agiyari in your opinion is of importance in Iran ? In his opinion The

Atash in Zainabad had much significance and importance than any other place in Iran . I asked whether the old sayings that the Zainabad Atash has been brought by Udvada is correct or not? To which Ervad Saheb gave a negative reply and said that these two had only spiritual relations. I asked the importance of Atash in the Zarthoshti religion, to which Ervad Saheb replied :Atash being one of the elements which has to be kept clean as per our religious responsibilities and that otherwise it is Atash that through which we can reach Ahuramazda.

In continuance I asked if you are called a Fire worshipper then what will be your answer, to my surprise Ervard Saheb started reading a phrase from the Shahnameh Firdowsi in Farsi Language which says:

"Don't say that fire worshippers are bad,The worshippers of Yazdan-e-Pak are Bad"

My next question being about the differences in clothing between the Indian and Iranian Mobeds to which I got the answer that: The real dress of the mobeds from the sasanian era was called Jameh(in gujerati) and that it consists of a one piece cloth clothing  having a skirt(daman) with itself. This clothing is still used by the Indian mobeds during ceremonies.

I asked him to explain the differences between the customs of the Indian Zarthoshti's and the Iranian Zarthoshti's to which  the real reason narrated was the Zarthoshti's being truce and peace loving people accepted the rules  and customs of the Local government, which being the start of the differences of customs ,language, and dress between the Iranian and Indian Zarthoshti's.

He also added that until the 18th century the Iranian Mobed Saheb's were very educated and that the Parsi Mobeds were in close contact with them and were given guidance to their religious questions but due to the  different consequences that took place in Iran  the number educated Mobeds declined but Zoroastrians anywhere in the world believe in the philosophy of the religion which Spitaman Zarathushtra has preached, Time and cosequences just effect the external appearance the  main basis of the religion never changes.

My next question was about whether a mobed can be initiated to be a Mobed if he is not from a Mobed family(this being a common thought between Iranian & Indian Zarthoshti's) to which I was told that to be a mobed is not at  all related to kith and kin and that all Zarthoshti's have the right to become a Mobed.

Time running short and we have reached Pir-e-Murad where our fellow Zoroastrians have a visit and are having lunch this is  where I again get a chance to ask my last question: whether is there an anjuman for the mobeds in India as we have it in Iran(Anjuman Mobedan) to which I get a positive answer(Athornan Mandil). The name of the head of the Anjuman Mobedan in Iran is Mobed Khorshidian and that it's informed that the Anjuman Mobedan has decided to organize a congress in the year 2010 inviting the mobeds from all over the world to participate.
