TehranTimes , Culture desk : Tehran – About 100 rock tombs dating back to the Parthian period have recently been discovered accidentally near Ahvaz , the provincial capital of Khuzestan in southwestern Iran.
IRAN HIGHLIGHTS : Mount Damavand , a dormant volcano and the highest peak in Iran , is located in the middle Alborz Range. Standing tall at 5,671 meters , it is also the highest point in the Middle East and the highest volcano in all of Asia. Though not volcanically active , there are fumaroles near the summit crater that deposit sulfur. The mountain is located near the southern coast of the Caspian Sea , in Amol county , Mazandaran , 66 kilometers northeast of Tehran.

Persepolis is one of the most important ancient sites of Achaemenid period which about 2500 years ago was started to be built in the reign of Darius the Great and continued to be built for 120 years. The ancient site of Persepolis , with 13,500 square meters area , consists of several palaces , stairs , columns & two stone graveyards whose number of inscriptions, engraved on them, exceeds 3000.

TEHRANTIMES , Art Desk : TEHRAN - A cemetery dating back to 3500 years ago has been discovered in the Taj Amir region near the city of Yasuj in the Southwestern Iranian province of Kohkiluyeh - Boyer Ahmad.
Over 20 graves have been excavated so far by an archaeological team in the cemetery , which covers an area of over 60,000 square meters , team director Mohammad Rajabi told the Persian service of IRNA on Friday.
